Three people were injured when an SUV and a minivan crashed head-on in this Thanksgiving Day collision on Long Island, N.Y. Approximately 30 personnel from Huntington Fire Department, Huntington Community First Aid Squad, Suffolk Police Emergency Services and Cold Spring Harbor Fire Department responded with an engine, a heavy rescue truck and four ambulances. Extensive extrication was required for the two occupants of the minivan and the SUV driver, whose legs were trapped under the dashboard. The Suffolk Police Medevac helicopter transported one minivan occupant (a geriatric trauma patient) to the University Hospital at Stony Brook. Huntington Community ambulances transported the other two patients to Huntington Hospital.
