Multiple Ambulance Crashes in Minneapolis

| Monday, June 29, 2009

MINNEAPOLIS - Two ambulances from Hennepin County Medical Center were involved in separate crashes within minutes of each other early Saturday.

The first happened in north Minneapolis around 3:15 a.m. when an ambulance crashed into taxi. Police say the cab driver was cited for not yielding to an emergency vehicle.

Downtown, less than 15 minutes later, a minivan hit an ambulance that was responding to the first crash. Witnesses told police the minivan driver didn't have his lights on. He was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

Of the eight people involved in the crashes, only the cab driver and his two passengers were hospitalized. The four paramedics were treated for minor injuries.
