MEMPHIS -- A 53-year-old man is accused of pulling over a young woman in Midtown, flashing a fake badge and ordering her to pay him a $1000...or else.

His real job? He's a paramedic for Pro-Med, Inc., a local ambulance company. His boss? Not very happy about the arrest.

"Very surprised," said James Meriweather, Director of Operations for Pro-Med EMS in Berclair.

"I don't know anything about it. Best thing I can say is talk to Doug," he added.

Douglas Rooker, a licensed paramedic since 1991, has worked for him for more than a year.

"For the most part when Doug's scheduled to come to work, he comes to work, and he does a good job," said Meriweather.
