SHEFFIELD TOWNSHIP A Lorain County sheriff's deputy was brought to Community Allen Medical Center on Wednesday night after a man he was trying to arrest punched him on the side of the face.
Edwin Cedre, 19, also tried to bite an ambulance worker and was Tasered three times during the scuffle inside an ambulance parked on Vincent Avenue, according to a sheriff's report.
Cedre was being treated inside a Sheffield Township rescue ambulance when deputies arrived at the scene around 5 p.m. Cedre told them he tried to kill himself by swallowing a bowl of cough medicine.
When deputies told him he needed to be cooperative and go to the hospital, Cedre agreed, the report stated. A few minutes later, an ambulance worker told deputy Kris White that Cedre was out of control and fighting with workers in the back of the ambulance.
White got into the ambulance to tell Cedre to calm down, but he wouldn't listen and told the deputy he wanted to go to jail. When White tried to handcuff Cedre, he was punched on the side of the face and Cedre grabbed his bullet-proof vest to pull him down on top of him, deputies said.
