HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- An off-duty Coral Springs, Fla., firefighter shot Sunday night after a dispute over a go-kart is recovering.

Robert Wood, 42, remains sedated at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. He has undergone two surgeries after being shot in the stomach.

The man suspected of shooting Wood is Ronald Khan.

Khan, 35, of Hollywood, was arrested hours after the shooting. He is out of jail on $10,000 bond.

On Tuesday, police released the 911 calls for help following the shooting.

"He's been shot by some stupid neighbors down the street," a female caller said.

The dispatcher asked, "Where is the person with the gun?"

The woman answered, "They left. The cops are here now."

According to police, Wood yelled at Khan to stop riding his go-kart along the 500 block of North 60th Way.

Wood told Khan he was a paramedic and that riding the go-kart was dangerous.

The two men argued and Wood pushed Khan to the ground, police said.

Khan took off on the go-kart.

About 10 minutes later, he walked back to the house -- with a gun and a group of friends, police said.

Khan, who has a concealed-weapons permit, shot Wood and ran away toward a gray Lincoln Town Car, witnesses told investigators.

Police spent several hours interviewing witnesses, who led them to Khan.

According to public records, Khan has been arrested twice before in Florida -- on an obstruction-of-justice charge in Fort Lauderdale and a misdemeanor battery charge in Hollywood.

Both cases were dropped.

Hollywood police have charged him with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm. Police recovered the gun.
