Online and eLearning Training Tools
1-4 The online course Learn: Rapid STEMI ID prepares you to evaluate and assess patients presenting with symptoms of myocardial infarction (MI), interpret ECGs for signs of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and activate a system of care for rapid reperfusion of an occluded coronary artery.

Learn: Rhythm Pediatric focuses on normal pediatric cardiac rhythms and prepares your personnel to recognize pediatric cardiac arrhythmias.

The online, self-directed course Learn: Rhythm Adult introduces providers to normal cardiac rhythms and prepares them to recognize basic cardiac arrhythmias in clinical practice.

The HeartCode PALS Part 1 (CD) course combines the interactive, cognitive education of eSimulation with skills training. Part 1 is a CD-based option for completing Part 1 of Pediatric Advanced Life Support training. During the hands-on portion of the course (Parts 2 and 3), users have the opportunity to practice their skills and then complete a skills test with an AHA PALS Instructor.

Disposable Pressure Relief
11
Custom blended, non-latex gel foam elastomer from Trauma Technologies makes it possible to alleviate pain and pressure in a multi-use disposable pad. Disposable Spineboard Pads are attached to any backboard with a non-residue adhesive that sticks firmly on the board but comes off without cleaning. After the transparent slipcover has worn out (approximately 15 uses), the pad inside can be rinsed of body fluids and used a few more times, depending on severity of case. At around $2 per patient, these pads are the most cost-effective way to reduce the pain of spinal immobilization.

Patient Simulation
30-32 The Laerdal ALS Simulator is a realistic, interactive training manikin that simulates a wide range of life-saving skills in medical emergencies, including CPR, ACLS, NBC, trauma, bleeding control and first aid, and optimizes the key skills of emergency care providers. It features spontaneous breathing, airway control, voice, pre-programmed sounds, ECG and many other clinical features. The ALS Simulator’s highly mobile capabilities, and the fact that there are no cumbersome air tanks, hoses or cables required, make it ideal for field use, transport, and in-hospital training.

In addition to the ALS Simulator, Laerdal has released ALS Simulator Advanced PC software, which now allows users to control all clinical parameters from a laptop PC, enable video recording and review an event log with synchronized recording of the patient monitor and in-room video.

Laerdal’s Emergency Preparedness Scenarios cover five essential terrorism threats: IEDs, RDDs, nerve agent attacks, cyanide exposure and blister agents. Each threat group covers five different casualty cases that can be used individually or combined to simulate multiple casualty events. These scenarios now operate on the complete line of adult VitalSim-capable manikins, which include ALS Simulator, MegaCode Kelly, Nursing Anne, Nursing Kelly, and the Resusci Anne Simulator.

Ecolab/ MDI S.A.L.T.

S.A.L.T. to the Rescue
23 The new disposable S.A.L.T. (Supraglottic Airway Laryngopharyngeal Tube) allows prompt, safe endotracheal intubation, particularly for difficult, special and blind airway management. What once took minutes now may take just seconds. Simply lubricate S.A.L.T. and insert like an oropharyngeal airway, then introduce an endotracheal (ET) tube through the center of the device. Next, secure the patented clamp to the ET tube, verify tube placement and secure strap to ET tube. ET intubation is now more simple, fast and efficient.

RBFabrications TomCat ICID (Integral Cervical Immobilization Device)

All-in-One Spinal Immobilization Device
27 The TomCat ICID (Integral Cervical Immobilization Device)
offers a revolutionary concept in spinal immobilization. Its design enables personnel to rapidly deploy it to immobilize a patient without having to retrieve and use separate head pads or devices, and, after use, the head immobilizers fold tight to the board’s surface to save valuable storage space. The rigid head “paddles” feature foam contact areas that are built into the contoured board. The ICID also features the Glasgow Coma Scale and Rule of Nines charts imprinted on the board for quick reference. And an integrated O2 clip provides an easy place for crews to attach and secure supplemental oxygen devices. Shown here with an optional flotation collar attached.

AMBU, Inc. SmartMan

Airway Training and Evaluation System
29 Ambu’s Airway SmartMan is designed to measure multiple important parameters: intubation effectiveness, ventilation optimization and two-person advanced airway CPR. Unique to this system is the feedback received on the timing of ventilations with release of chest compressions. The system’s specialized manikin and software, linked to a PC of your choice, also records the rescuer’s time to complete intubation of the patient, effectiveness of the ventilations administered and the accuracy of chest compressions. In addition, the Airway SmartMan system also includes the ability to train and measure BLS CPR skills via easy-to-understand, real-time visual feedback.

Laerdal Medical Patient Simulation
