The Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau announce the agenda for the workshop/webinar on the proposed extension of outage reporting to interconnected VoIP and broadband ISPs and on network reliability and continuity. The event will occur on September 8, 2011, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at FCC Headquarters, 445 12th St., SW, Washington, DC, in the Commission Meeting Room.
The first two panels of the workshop will focus on the proposed extension of outage reporting to interconnected Voice over Internet Protocol service providers and broadband Internet service providers, which is the subject of Docket No. 11-82. The final panel of the workshop will focus on issues regarding the reliability and continuity of communications networks, including broadband, which are raised in Docket No. 11-60. All three panels will consider matters involved in ensuring the availability of communications services during and after disasters, such as the recent East Coast earthquake and Hurricane Irene.
Audio/video coverage of the event will be broadcast live with open captioning over the Internet from the FCC's web page at www.fcc.gov/live. The FCC’s webcast is free to the public. The panel moderators will work to respond to as many questions as possible during the workshop depending on the volume of questions and time constraints.
