National EMS Academy Pass Rates Exceed Average

NEMSA’s paramedic pass rate is 88% this year

Each year, the National EMS Academy, located in Lafayette, LA, and operating as a division of Acadian Companies, continues to exceed the National Average Pass Rate for EMTs (Basic and Paramedic). This year, through continued refinement of its training curriculum and examination processes, NEMSA’s Pass Rate numbers again capped the National Average Pass Rate, clearly demonstrating their firmly established reputation as a leader in EMS education.

“Our aim is to give the students the best educational experience possible. By finding the right combination of didactic and hands-on work, they have a solid knowledge-base to work from which allows for their best chance at success in the field,” reports NEMSA Director Gifford Saravia. “I am very proud of both our staff and the students’ accomplishments, as evidenced by our recent improvements in 1st attempt pass rates when sitting for the National Registry certification exam.”

According to the National Registry of EMTs, the National Average Pass Rate for Paramedics went from 70% in 2010 to 72% in 2011. In comparison, NEMSA’s Paramedic Pass Rate went from 73% in 2010 to a whopping 88% this year.

But the numbers aren’t the most important element at work here. By improving the first time Pass Rate, NEMSA also helps to ensure a steady supply of essential EMS professionals for the workforce. In addition, NEMSA’s continued success contributes to reducing the number of costly remediation classes required by other programs, ultimately decreasing the overall cost of EMS education.
