NAEMSE Announces 2011 Hero Awards

Educators recognized at September conference

Pittsburgh -- The National Association of EMS Educators was pleased to honor several individuals during the 2011 NAEMSE Educational Symposium & Trade Show in Reno, NV the week of September 12th. Recipients are nominated by their peers and then chosen by a committee of NAEMSE members prior to the Symposium.

HEROES AWARDS
Rebecca Valentine was awarded the Unsung Hero Award in honor of her years of dedication to the EMS education community. This award is given to an individual who, although not nationally known, makes an incredible difference in the lives of those he or she teaches.

The Fallen Heroes award was created to honor individuals in EMS Education who, though no longer with us, had an incredible impact on the EMS education community. This year’s Fallen Heroes include:
Jeffrey Mitchell, Alabama
Randy Jones, Tennessee
Ginger Worlds, Illinois

The Legends That Walk Among Us Award. This award is given an individual who has mentored and supported EMS education on a national level:
Dr. Thomas Platt, Pennsylvania

JAMES O. PAGE SCHOLARSHIP
The James O. Page Scholarship was created in honor of James O. Page “The Father of EMS.” This scholarship financially assists an individual to attend the annual symposium. This year’s recipient was
Sharon Burkhardt of Ohio.
