WINDHAM, N.H. -- Police shot a man with a stun gun outside his Ministerial Road home Thanksgiving Day after he allegedly refused to obey police and emergency workers responding to a medical call.
At 6:11 p.m., firefighters arrived at 23 Ministerial Road after getting a report that a male guest at that address was having trouble breathing.
As the man s condition worsened to a heart attack, according to police, people in the home began to get in the way of emergency workers, who eventually called police.
Police Sgt. Carl Wagner said space was tight in the living room, which was crowded with about six guests and family members.
Emergency medical technicians tried to stabilize and transport the man, but told police Harvey Kellogg, 47, of 23 Ministerial Road, wouldn t follow their directions to stop interfering.
They had to force their way by him through the doorway, and then he was interfering with the path they were taking, Wagner said.
Kellogg told police the man being hospitalized was a close friend. Police said he continued to interfere as rescue workers loaded the man into the ambulance.
Wagner said Kellogg swore at him and became combative. Wagner told Kellogg to step back and lie down before warning him he would use the Taser stun gun, police said.
Kellogg continued to resist and advanced toward Wagner, according to police.
It was then that he was shot with a Taser and taken into custody.
Police would not release the name of the man who was taken to the hospital. He is in the hospital recovering, Wagner said.
Kellogg was released on personal recognize Thursday night and will be arraigned Dec. 17 in Salem District Court.
