LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Lee County (Fla.) Emergency Medical Services Paramedics Jason Ausman, Rex Friedline, Adam Thompson, and Vince Macias placed third in the Bill Shearer Advanced Life Support International Competition semifinals and will compete in the finals today in Orlando.

The goal of the competition is to simulate real life cases as closely as possible. Procedures are carried out in as realistic manner as possible. Procedures and medication administration take place in real time. IV infusion rates are monitored.
