Intermedix Corporation announced Wednesday that William “Bill” Sugiyama recently joined the Intermedix leadership team as a vice president of EMS client services.

Sugiyama will support Intermedix client partnerships with emergency medical service agencies throughout the West Coast.

Sugiyama started his career as an EMT and has approximately 25 years of experience in the EMS industry. There, he managed more than 400 fire department personnel and 60,000 annual EMS responses.

“We are very pleased to welcome Bill to our team,” said Intermedix President and CEO Doug Shamon. “Bill’s experience and track record of leadership within the EMS industry make him a strong addition to our EMS team.”

Sugiyama also serves on a number of nonprofit boards, including serving as the immediate past president for the International Association of Emergency Medical Services Chiefs and is the secretary for the National Emergency Medical Services Memorial Foundation.

“Intermedix continues to be an innovative industry leader in emergency response,” said Sugiyama. “I am excited to take advantage of this unique opportunity to help our country’s EMS agencies navigate the ongoing changes in health care.”

Sugiyama is a California licensed paramedic and registered nurse. He holds an associate’s nursing degree and bachelor’s degree from Excelsior College, as well as a master’s degree in homeland security with a concentration in emergency and disaster management from American Military University.
