Colo. considers giving IDs to first responders before next disaster

After Hurricane Katrina evacuees flooded into Colorado two years ago, many Coloradoans volunteered to help them but were turned down.

That is because state and federal emergency workers were overwhelmed. Now, the state is planning ahead.

A task force is talking about giving volunteers and first responders identity cards that will show who they are, where they are from and describe their work experience.
