The International Association of Emergency Medical Services Chiefs (IAEMSC) selected Howard County Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief James Brothers as the 2014 INTERMEDIX / IAEMSC Harvard Fellowship recipient.

Chief Brothers was selected from a highly competitive candidate pool of qualified EMS chiefs to participate in the senior executives in state and local government program at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

The program offers participants experiences both inside and outside the classroom to ensure they are equipped to lead results-driven government agencies and non-profit organizations as public officials.

“Chief Brothers embodies the best of EMS leadership today,” said IAEMSC President Chief James L. Robinson. “Over the course of his distinguished career, he has helped to advance the discipline within Howard County Fire & Rescue, the State of Maryland and the United States. His continued pursuit of advanced education also illustrates his commitment to the profession. ”

The fellowship is made possible through the support of Intermedix, a company that provides revenue cycle management and technology solutions to more than 300 EMS agencies across the country.

“We are truly gratified by the generous support of Intermedix that enables IAEMSC to provide this opportunity for its membership,” said IAEMSC President-Elect Rob Farmer. “Intermedix has graciously supported this professional development initiative with IAEMSC since 2006.”

“Promoting the advancement of the EMS industry is a highly worthy endeavor,” said Doug Shamon, Intermedix president and CEO. “We congratulate Chief Brothers for his achievements and believe he will find this program to be an exceptional opportunity.”
