Annual Heroes Salute Program Honors America’s Heroes at Hawks Cay Resort

| Tuesday, July 8, 2014

In recognition of the bravery and dedication of America’s heroes, including our first responders, Hawks Cay Resort, the only resort destination of its kind in the Florida Keys, is once again honoring military, fire and rescue, law enforcement and all medical personnel with its annual Heroes Salute program. Running Aug. 17 through Nov. 25, 2014, this year’s Heroes Salute features starting rates at $109, special discounts on resort activities and weekly tribute events.

Heroes Salute will kick off during Labor Day weekend with family-friendly events including a Heroes Salute 5k and post-race celebration, Touch-A-Truck, games and contests and a live country music concert complemented with an all-American barbeque and a tribute ceremony complete with Color Guard and fireworks. For a full Labor Day calendar and list of weekly events throughout the Heroes Salute season, please check the resort’s website at www.HawksCay.com for updates.

“Heroes Salute is our way of saying thank you to America’s heroes, both past and present,” said Managing Director Sheldon Suga. “This program has grown year over year and become an annual tradition for so many friends and families. As such, this program is close to the hearts of our associates. We work hard to make this a memorable and meaningful experience for our heroes, and we are ready to welcome them with our Challenge Coins and many fantastic events planned.”

Heroes Salute includes discounts on spa treatments, SNUBA and dive excursions through Dive Duck Key, Dolphin Connection Dolphin Discovery and Dockside programs, Segway tours through Sundance Watersports and fishing charters, as well as two-for-one admission for kids to Island Adventure Camp. The highlight of the Heroes Salute program is the resort’s weekly Heroes in Action tribute ceremony that takes place every Saturday evening around the resort’s Fire Pit. Featuring iconic imagery followed by a lighting ceremony to pay tribute to all fallen heroes and those currently serving, it’s a moving celebration that has become the centerpiece of this annual tradition. This year’s enhanced tribute allows guests to submit images via social media to be included in the tribute as well as on resort TVs at locations throughout the property.

While the $109 starting rate is limited to American heroes, all civilians can receive a 20 percent discount on the best available rate between August 17 and November 25, 2014 by donating as little as $5 to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, the resort’s ongoing partner in this program. A portion of proceeds from each room booked during Heroes Salute will go to the organization.  For Heroes Salute reservations, visit http://www.hawkscay.com/heroessalute/ or call 877-484-9342.

To submit images for the weekly tribute ceremony or to follow the Heroes Salute conversation on social media, use the hashtag #HawksCayHeroes and follow the resort on Facebook and Google+ at HawksCayResort and on Twitter and Instagram at @HawksCayResort.
