Acadian Ambulance Service Welcomes Mercedes Drive & Learn

Lafayette, La. -- Acadian Ambulance Service, an EMS company known for their technological innovation, recently added the energy-efficient Mercedes Benz Sprinter model to their fleet of ambulances. The Sprinter was chosen largely because of its ability to fulfill a specific need within their overall patient delivery strategy. The advantages of increased fuel efficiency, safety innovation and reliability of the product were all important considerations in choosing the Sprinter.

In an effort to fully showcase the many features of the Sprinter as an ambulance, Acadian officials reached out to Mercedes for a more in-depth look at the product. Mercedes responded by offering Lafayette and Acadian the first-ever Drive & Learn event in the U.S., specifically designed to educate and increase brand loyalty.

Bill Vidacovich, vice president of Acadian Ambulance’s Fleet Maintenance, said, “Our employees who attended this event will be able to permeate the entire company with the important information they learned about the Sprinter ambulance’s capabilities, limitations and safety features.”

The program offered 4 sessions over 2 days, with each session including classroom and driver education on the Sprinter vehicle. UL Lafayette's nearby Cajun Field parking lot served as the main driving course, but additional driving instruction was also provided on community roadways.

Mercedes general manager for commercial vehicles Claus Tritt acted as spokesperson for the event. “We wanted to make you aware of all technology built into our vehicles to prevent accidents that will keep you safe as the operators of our vehicles, but will also keep your patients safe,” Tritt said.

The first day’s sessions were reserved for Acadian employees and the second day’s sessions were split between other EMS companies in the morning and EMS up-fitters and suppliers in the afternoon.
