National EMS Memorial Bike Ride, February 21, 2012 – The locations and dates of the East Coast and Kentucky routes of the 2012 National EMS Memorial Bike Ride have been announced.

Both routes begin on May 20. The East Coast route will start from Boston, Massachusetts, and the Kentucky route will start in Paintsville, Kentucky. Both routes conclude on May 26 in Alexandria, Virginia. The National EMS Memorial Bike Ride has been in existence for several years, bringing riders from all over the United States, as well as Canada, to honor EMS providers who have died in the line of duty.

“We are really excited about the 2012 Bike Ride,” says Tim Perkins, Public Information Officer for the Ride, “we’ve mapped out some great routes, and plan to honor EMS providers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the best manner we can.”

Perkins also encourages those who don’t necessarily have cycling experience to participate.

“There is more to the Ride than just putting on a helmet and pedaling. We are constantly looking for people to assist the Ride (and the riders) as ride support staff, which in many ways is the most essential aspect of the Ride. There are a lot of moving parts to move a group of people, bikes, luggage, and other items across multiple states in one week’s time”

Registration for the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride is currently open online at the Bike Ride website,
www.muddyangels.com. The fee for registration as a rider is $350 for the week, or $75 per day. The fee for support staff is $75 per week, or $15 per day. Dates and locations for the Colorado and Louisiana routes will be announced soon.

More information on the entire Bike Ride, including training information, and sponsorship opportunities for the Bike Ride can be found at www.muddyangels.com.
