Ambulances Take 12 to Hospital

| Monday, August 31, 2009

LENEXA, Kan. - A mystery illness hospitalized 14 and left 22 total sick at a Lenexa Mexican restaurant Sunday evening.

Emergency officials are investigating what could have made people get sick at Mi Ranchito on 95th Street. "I think we started off with four or five patients, but within several minutes it escalated to 20 patients," Johnson County Med-Act Battalion Chief Dirk Fetterholf said.

An employee leaving the business said he didn't know what happened, but confirmed that diners were getting sick. The investigation started as soon as all of the diners were out of the restaurant. A total of 14 people went to the hospital, but all have been released.
