Trauma Technologies Trauma Board 1000

Fran Hildwine, BS, NREMT-P, CCEMT-P | | Thursday, May 28, 2009

When a 9-1-1 caller says "Baby fell and fractured his skull," and the residence is on the fourth floor, a certain image comes to mind. WeÌll likely bring the pediatric-sized backboard and C-collars into the apartment and groan when we realize the "baby" is 42 years old, 275 lbs. and in the midst of a seizure. TheTrauma Board 1000 fromTrauma Technologies has slots to accommodate straps for pediatric and adult patients. This way, providers donÌt have to trek down the steps and back to get the adult-sized backboard. Plus, the board was developed with specially placed cavities to reduce pressure on the fifth and sixth cervical region for both pediatric and adult patients.
