Warming IV fluids in the field has led to many innovations, from placing the IV fluid on the dash with the defogger on high to 12-volt powered heaters and small insulating blankets for the IV bag and tubing. The newFlexWarmer fromMerlyn Medical uses a reusable chemical hot pack and a heat-transfer case that warms a loop of IV tubing as the fluid flows to the patient. Simply place the heat pack in the case, activate the pack by bending the metal disk, wait for the heat level to rise, and thread the IV tubing through the metal channel in the side of the case.
