SCOTTSDALE, AZ—Rural/Metro Corporation, a leading national provider of ambulance and private fire protection services, has been awarded a new contract to provide exclusive 911 ambulance services in Cass County, Indiana.

The five-year contract began April 2, following a vote last week of the Cass County Board of Commissioners to transition the system from a public to a private model.

Michael DiMino, President & Chief Executive Officer, said, "We appreciate the opportunity to serve the citizens of Cass County and look forward to building on our longstanding record of service excellence in the region. As the largest provider of ambulance services in the state of Indiana, Rural/Metro brings superior clinical performance, operating efficiencies and added resources that set us apart from other providers."

Rural/Metro will operate as Cass County Emergency Medical Services, serving the cities of Logansport, Galveston, Onward, Royal Center and Walton, as well as more than two dozen townships and unincorporated towns within the 400-square mile county. Cass County is centrally located approximately 70 miles north of the Company’s current base of operations in Indianapolis and is a natural extension of the Company’s operations in Indiana.

Dan Gillespie, Division General Manager for Indiana, added, “We have welcomed an exceptional staff of EMS personnel to Rural/Metro who have helped make the transition to a new service provider as smooth and seamless as possible. They are among the finest paramedics and EMTs in the region, and we are very proud to have them on our team.”
