ItÌs an airway nightmare: Your partner didnÌt see the cords as he passed the tube (of course you would have), and breath sounds are hard to discern due to the patientÌs size, so youÌre going to have to rely on an EtCO2 reading for confirmation of endotracheal tube placement. With the new Nonin Model 9847, you wonÌt even have to wait for the sensor to warm up; itÌs ready to go on the first breath. You attach the sensor between the tube and the BVM and sigh audibly as the bar on the right side of the display rises into the 30s on each exhalation. Rugged and lightweight, with an intuitive keypad, the Nonin 9847 doesnÌt require calibration.
