2011 James O. Page EMS Achievement Award Winner Announced at Fire-Rescue Med

This morning, May 12, Fire-Rescue Med attendees in Las Vegas gathered to hear the announcement of this year’s James O. Page EMS Achievement Award winner. This year’s recipient is Jeffrey T. Lindsey PhD, EMT-P, CHS IV, EFO, CFO, the chief learning officer for Health Safety Institute.

The award was presented by Gary Ludwig, MS, EMT-P, deputy fire chief with the Memphis (Tenn.) Fire Department and Cam Pollock, vice president of global marketing for Physio-Control.

“I am very honored and humbled to be the recipient of this award,” Lindsey told attendees. “Jim was a great leader and an inspiration to me and the entire EMS community.”

About Lindsey
Lindsey is an assistant Professor in Emergency Health Services at The George Washington University and St. Petersburg College. He retired from the fire service as the fire chief for Estero Fire Rescue in Estero, Fla., and has authored a number of textbooks for Brady Publishing. He’s an experienced leader, educator, lecturer, author and consultant in emergency services.

Lindsey earned his doctorate and master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of South Florida (USF). He holds a bachelor’s degree in fire and safety engineering from the University of Cincinnati and an associate in paramedic from Harrisburg Area Community College. He also has earned his chief fire officer designation and completed the executive fire officer program. Lindsey has been involved in the EMS industry since 1980. He has a diverse background with experience as a paramedic, firefighter, 9-1-1 dispatcher and educator. He served in various leadership roles, including fire chief.

He’s also an associate member of the Prehospital Care Research Forum, representative to the Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education EMS degree committee, liaison for the IAFC EMS section to ACEP. He served on the inaugural National EMS Advisory Council and was the safety chairperson of the Council. He’s the past member of the State of Florida EMS Advisory Council, vice chair of the Florida Fire Chief’s EMS section, NAEMT Governor representing Florida, board member of NAEMSE and chairperson of the strategic planning committee for the Lee County Fire Chief’s Association.
