In 1973 Swedish Medical Center began a journey of educating a new breed of healthcare provider: the paramedic. One of the first programs in the nation, individuals began acquiring those skills that came to be known as 'ALS' even before there was a National Standard Curriculum that was published in 1976. In July of 2013, the Paramedic Education Program now known as HealthONE, and in conjunction with our Arapahoe Community College partner, will enroll our 100th class of Paramedic students. As the fifth oldest nationally accredited program in the country, we continue a tradition of Excellence in EMS Education.
